Prayer Against Santería and Voodoo by Dr. Preston Bailey: A BMI Journey Teaching

Santería and Voodoo are not folklore. They are organized occult systems with real spiritual mechanisms. What makes them particularly oppressive is that they work through soul ties, spiritual bonds that are ritually constructed to attach a person's soul to the one who sent the curse, to the objects used in the ritual, and to the demonic entities invoked to carry it out. A person under this kind of attack is not dealing with bad luck. They are dealing with something that was intentionally built and sent.

Dr. Preston Bailey developed this prayer to address that specific architecture. It is not a general prayer for protection. It is a targeted set of declarations built to do two things:

First, it renounces the curse at its root, severing every legal tie the enemy holds through rituals, ceremonies, objects, priests, and Orishas. Second, it reclaims the ground that rightfully belongs to you under the authority of the blood of Jesus Christ and the victory He accomplished at Calvary two thousand years ago.

There are two models. The first is for personal renunciation, for someone who has been targeted by or has had personal contact with these practices and needs to legally sever every tie. The second is for active spiritual warfare, for someone standing against ongoing attack and invoking the full authority Christ purchased on the cross.

Both prayers are grounded in four specific scriptures: 2 Corinthians 4:4, John 16:8, Matthew 16:16-18, and Colossians 2:15. These are not decorative references. They are the legal basis for the authority being exercised in the prayer.

These prayers are not meant to be rushed or read once and set aside. Take them slowly, out loud, in a posture of agreement with what Jesus already accomplished. If you have had direct contact with Santería or Voodoo, begin with the personal renunciation, naming each tie you are aware of and trusting the Holy Spirit to surface anything you cannot remember. If you are standing against ongoing attack, move into the warfare declarations with the confidence that the authority you are exercising is His, not your own.
